An unusual approach to employee motivation

An unusual approach to employee motivation
from Shepherds Bush Housing Group.
It’s great to find an employer who invests in staff satisfaction as much as customer satisfaction. Shepherds Bush Housing Group, a housing association in west London with 43 years experience of delivering quality affordable homes, has found that turning its annual conference into a mass participation event reaps rewards in terms of employee motivation. As well as communicating organisational plans and objectives for the year ahead, employers feel that it is just as important to reflect on the great team work that takes place on a daily basis at SBHG.
Accordingly, Wonderberry was asked to design, plan and execute a day to remember….
…Cue ‘The Big Step Up’ – a Strictly Come Dancing style workshop where everyone was given the chance to learn a routine; either salsa, flamenco, disco, country or street. After an hour’s professional instruction the groups performed to each other amidst much hilarity!
The conference was rounded off by a ‘mass group dance-off’ and we were thrilled to note that of the 200 attendees, only a couple of people sadly had to bow out due to physical ill-health – but more than made up for it by cheering on from the sidelines... The atmosphere was electric and the success of the day far exceeded the original hopes of the management team.
We’re planning something even bigger and better for Shepherds Bush Housing Group for this year – an alternative school sports day – we’ll update you as plans progress…
